What you'll be doing:

As a HR Assistant, you'll play a key role in shaping the employee experience from day one through to career progression and beyond. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or someone early on in their HR career looking to build a career in HR within a supportive, fast-paced technology business.

At Iomart, we're the UK's leading provider of secure cloud and managed services, helping organisations harness technology to drive innovation and growth. We're passionate about people, technology and continuous improvement, making this the perfect environment for someone who is curious, ambitious and eager to develop their HR career.

In this varied role, you will:

  • Be the first point of contact for the HR team, managing the HR inbox and directing queries to the appropriate people when needed.
  • Support the full employee lifecycle, from onboarding new starters to offboarding leavers, ensuring every employee has a positive and seamless experience.
  • Prepare and process HR administration, including employment contracts, change letters, onboarding activities and maintaining accurate trackers and records.
  • Assist with employee relations matters such as absence management, disciplinary, grievance and flexible working cases by preparing documentation, tracking actions and taking notes during meetings.
  • Maintain employee records and ensure all documentation is filed accurately and confidentially.
  • Support the administration of employee benefits, helping colleagues understand their options and ensuring benefit changes are processed correctly.
  • Become a super-user of our HR systems, maintaining accurate data, creating reports and dashboards, supporting colleagues with system enhancements and identifying opportunities to improve processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement by helping to introduce automation and digital solutions that make HR processes more efficient and user-friendly.
  • Assist with annual salary review activities, including reporting, salary change administration and system updates.
  • Coordinate occupational health referrals and related administrative activities.
  • Deliver engaging HR inductions for new employees, issue exit surveys and support the exit interview process.
  • Work closely with the wider People Team on exciting projects and initiatives, including Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I), employee engagement, training, internal communications, system implementations and company events.

We want to hear from you if you:

Whether you're a recent graduate, early in your career, or looking to take your first step into HR, we'd love to hear from you. We're more interested in your potential, curiosity and problem-solving ability than extensive HR experience.
You'll thrive in this role if you:

  • Have recently graduated (or are due to graduate) in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, Management or a related subject.
  • Are excited about building a career in HR and People Operations, with a genuine interest in creating a great employee experience.
  • Enjoy solving problems, improving processes and finding smarter ways of working.
  • Have strong digital skills and are confident using technology, particularly Excel, AI tools or other software to automate tasks and improve efficiency.
  • Are naturally organised, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Have a customer-service mindset and enjoy helping people by providing a professional, friendly and responsive service.
  • Are confident communicating with a wide range of people and can build positive relationships across different teams and levels of the business.
  • Feel comfortable handling sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Have a proactive attitude, enjoy learning new systems and aren't afraid to suggest new ideas or challenge the status quo.
  • Can work independently while also being a supportive and collaborative team player.

Bonus points if you have:

  • Previous experience in an administrative, customer service, retail, hospitality or office-based role.
  • Experience using HR systems, CRM platforms or databases.
  • Strong Excel skills, including working with data, reports or dashboards.
  • An interest in people analytics, process improvement, automation, AI or digital transformation.
  • Started or are interested in studying towards a CIPD qualification.

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who is eager to learn, embraces technology, loves improving how things are done and wants to make a real impact on the employee experience from day one.
